Burgundy Brixx | aka Kyrst Hogan

Vancouver based bad ass, Burgundy Brixx (aka Kyrst Hogan) is a triple threat with a long career spanning all of North America! Born in Wisconsin, trained in Boston, she went to New York and worked with the Rockettes as a singer for many years before her frustration with the Broadway “machine” lead her to the DIY punk rock world of burlesque. After a decade in NY, she expanded her empire west to Vancouver to independently produce her own blockbuster shows with her husband for the past decade under the named Kitty Nights. Burgundy was in town for Trixie’s first show in Los Angeles, called “Moondust," in which Burgundy hilariously played Hera, the scornful wife of philandering husband / brother, Zeus. The two of them sat down in Griffith Park, over looking the city of LA while discussing life, art and finding happiness. LINK TO PODCAST HERE

BURGUNDY is a multi-disciplinary neo-cabaret theatrical artist and producer based in Vancouver, BC, Canada. Having studied dance and music from a young age, she began her theatrical career in an all-teen improv comedy troupe in Wisconsin led by a Second-City alum. While based in NYC for over a decade, she worked as a member of the performing arts unions AGVA and AEA under her given name, KYRST HOGAN, performing as a singer, actress and dancer for RADIO CITY PRODUCTIONS, NORWEGIAN CRUISE LINES and Atlantic City's BROADWAY ON THE BOARDWALK series as well as roles in both musicals and plays at theatres across the USA. She is the founder of Vancouver's award-winning KITTY NIGHTS PRODUCTIONS, producing live music, cabaret and theatrical shows and events since 2008, for which she created all graphic design and promotional elements. She and her husband also perform professionally as "JOHNNY & JUNE" -- their original theatrical tribute to Johnny Cash & June Carter-Cash, and in their tribute to Canadian singer/songwriters. Burgundy was selected to compete for the world title of Reigning Queen of Burlesque in Las Vegas for three consecutive years, and headlined various festivals across North America. She is an artistic associate with the dance series SMALL STAGE in Vancouver, with whom she also had the honor of performing at Canada's NATIONAL CENTRE FOR THE ARTS in Ottawa. Burgundy is entering into a new partnership with THE COLUMBIA THEATRE in New Westminster, BC and is also launching a new collaborative comedy cabaret this August, THE WRONG SHOW. In her "spare" time she enjoys reading, writing, cooking and sewing. She lives with her husband Doug and their two cats: Snowy and Velvet. www.burgundybrixx.com
